Social Networking Events

Thanks, Sacramento Connect for the heads up!

Tonight: Journalism 2.0: How Social Media Has Transformed the News
Sorry for the late announcement, but I just learned about this. The Sacramento Social Media Club is hosting a panel discussion tonight at the Urban Hive: Journalism 2.0: How Social Media Has Transformed the News. Panelists include Matthew Keys from Fox40, Ryan Lillis from The Sacramento Bee, Rob McAllister from KFBK, and Michelle Ponto from News10. Online registration is free but they are asking for $10 cash or check donation at the door. The event starts at 6:30 p.m.

Thursday: Join a “Community Conversation”
The Sacramento Bee, Sacramento Region Community Foundation, and Capital Public Radio are sponsoring “Community Conversations” at 7 coffee shops around Sacramento this Thursday at 6 p.m. Locations include The Daily Grind (Natomas), Butch N Nellie’s (Midtown), Old Soul (Oak Park), and more .This month’s topic is “Do you feel safe in your own neighborhood?” Send me an email if you think you might attend (lhoward@sacbee.com).

Thursday: SacTweetup at Sheraton Grand
It's time for the October SacTweetup. SacTweetups are not sponsored by Sacramento Connect (we did co-host the August Tweetup), but they are great events for networking with local bloggers and writers. They are billed as “two parts social to one part business.” Register for free online.
