PRESS RELEASE

Quilt Shop to Make 100 Pillowcases for Soldiers

Sew Katie Jean, a quilt shop located in historic downtown Lincoln, has been making

pillowcases for soldiers since March 2012. To celebrate, they are setting a goal of sewing 100

pillowcases by April 30.

“We first met Birdie Galbraith from Adopt-A-Pillowcase for a Soldier through Facebook.” says

Katie Trott, owner of Sew Katie Jean. “When I first opened my quilt shop, I wanted to find an

organization that we could support and sew for. Quilters are a generous group of people, and we love

our troops!”

When Sew Katie Jean teamed up with Birdie Galbraith, they started meeting once a month and

taught free classes to all who came, how to sew a simple pillowcase. Katie and Birdie feel that sending

soldiers a handmade pillowcase, helps to remind them that others are thinking of them, and we at home

support them. Both have family members serving in the military.

If you would like to send a handmade pillowcase to a soldier, contact Katie Trott at Sew Katie

Jean, 603 5th Street, Lincoln, (916) 209-3930. She will tell you more about how you can be involved in

helping this quilt shop celebrate our troops by making 100 pillowcases by April 30.
