Runaway Stage Productions presents Mel Brook’s The Producers

SACRAMENTO – Runaway Stage Productions brings Mel Brooks back to the stage with the hilarious musical comedy based on the hit film The Producers. Tickets are available online at www.runawaystage.com or via the Box Office at 916-207-1226. Performances Fridays through Saturdays begin May 30 and continue through June 22 at Sierra 2 Center’s 24th Street Theatre.
Winner of a record-breaking 12 Tony Awards, The Producers follows down-on-his-luck Broadway producer Max Bialystock. When he convinces his reserved accountant to help him pull of the biggest show-biz scam and Broadway flop in history, only outrageous, side-splitting humor can result. The two set off to find the worst musical ever written, hire the worst director and actors, open the destined-to-flop musical, and then run off with the investors’ money. Will they pull it off?
The Producers is a laugh-a-second show,” RSP Producing Director Bob Baxter said. “Literally, it is one of the funniest Mel Brooks production available, and RSP is so excited to finally present it with such a great cast in its 24th Street premiere.”
The cast includes Brent Null (RSP’s Hairspray) as Max, Tyson Wheeler (RSP’s How to Succeed) as accountant Leo Bloom.
“The chemistry between the two of them is priceless,” Baxter said. “I laugh at every rehearsal and I know with material and performers, the audiences will enjoy this show immensely.”
Also in the cast is RSP’s Resident Choreographer Darryl Strohl as Roger DuBrie and RSP favorite Jennifer Zimny as Max and Leo’s gorgeous secretary, Ulla. Glenn Disney will lead the Runaway Stage Productions Resident Orchestra as Musical Director. Hal Du Biel costumes.
